OpenSeal
Support
Need help with OpenSeal, found a bug, or have an idea? Email frandikajovan@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
01Getting in touch
Email frandikajovan@gmail.com. It helps if you include:
- your device model and iOS version,
- the OpenSeal version, if you know it,
- what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
02Where is my data stored?
Only on your device. OpenSeal has no accounts and no server, so I can’t see, recover or restore your collection for you. See the Privacy Policy for details.
03How do I back up or move to a new device?
In the app, go to Settings → Backup → “Back up to zip”. The iOS share sheet opens so you can save the .zip file somewhere safe — for example Files or iCloud Drive.
On the new device, install OpenSeal and choose “Restore from backup” on the first screen, or Settings → Backup → “Restore from zip”, then pick that .zip file. Backing up regularly is the best way to keep your collection safe.
04Why does the app ask for my location?
To show shrines and temples near you and the distance to them, while you’re using the app. Your location isn’t stored or sent to me. You can change location access at any time in iOS Settings.
05The app suggested the wrong shrine or temple
When a photo contains location metadata, OpenSeal uses it to suggest where the goshuin was received (“Honour mode”). If the suggestion is wrong, you can turn this off with the “Location check” switch in Settings — and please let me know which place it got wrong.
06How do I delete all my data?
Go to Settings → Reset → “Reset Seal” and confirm “Delete everything”, or delete the app. Both erase everything from the device. Back up first if you might want your collection back.
